Everyone experiences the valley of weeping and sorrows. It is just a part of living in a broken world. We are all a “man of constant sorrows” (Foggy Mountain Boys). Jesus was the suffering Servant and a “man of sorrows” (Isaiah 53:3). The difference in people is in how they embrace the valley of sorrows. That’s what JD focuses on in Today’s Text. We can wallow in our sorrows and play the victim card. We can try to drown our sorrows with drugs, alcohol, our the endless pursuit of happiness. Or we can embrace our sorrows as a suffering Servant of Christ and live into the paradoxes of the “Valley of Baca/Vision. I have found that I am the closest to Him and I can see more clearly in the valley. I don’t seek the valley of sorrows nor do I dwell there, but I try to use these times as a spiritual growth opportunity and let God lead me through it and out of it for the sake of others. Lord let it be so with me!
