    For me, the big idea or takeaway from today’s text is that God is always willing. That is why I agree we should not pray if it be your will to heal. God is always willing and able to heal, and He always does. In fact, He already has in His death and resurrection. It is the timing and manner of healing that we have trouble understanding and accepting.

    Like everything else in life, we want immediate results and instant gratification. If we don’t get it, we start rationalizing and trying to explain God’s infinite actions with our finite minds. I have learned that this is an exercise in futility and is actually insulting to God. That is why I think Jesus was indignant. I claim the ultimate outcome of healing (both physically and spiritually) when I pray as God’s Will and I accept the immediate outcome as His will for me in Christ (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18) without question, no if ands or buts. I know of no better way to understand it or to explain it.
