My answer to today’s question depends on what you call a ministry of great importance. I have never started a church or a new ministry or done anything of great importance by the world’s standards and I certainly have not given birth to the son of God. I have faithfully served the Lord through the church for 50 of my 73 years in just about every way a lay person can, but I don’t consider that to be a ministry of great importance. Most of that was what I call church work.

What I feel the Holy Spirit is calling me to do now is to disciple others. That is why I do this and that is why I lead small groups. It is also why I try my best to be more like Jesus for the sake of others. That is a ministry of great importance that we all can do. We have the same the same Holy Spirit living in us that “happened” to Mary. All that “church work” and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit prepared me for this ministry, a ministry of influence, which is a ministry of great importance.
