JD’s discussion of the “NoWhere that is SomeWhere” reminds me of one of my favorite Casting Crowns contemporary praise songs, “I am just a Nobody” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOooelyA9Ws), which is really a remake of an earlier gospel song by the Williams Brothers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziI-CE1r4dM). I understand the message, we are really just nobody’s from nowhere going nowhere.

This is what I meant in an earlier reflection when I said we must first recognize and acknowledge who God is and whose we are. We are His creation, He is the creator. We don’t pick Him, He chooses us. We don’t get to decide what is true, pure and righteous, He does. He knew us and had a purpose and calling for us before He knit us together in our Mother’s womb, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). God is a Somebody headed Somewhere. We are a Nobody, from Nowhere headed Nowhere unless we have died and hidden our life with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).

In Christ, we are a Somebody from Wherever headed Somewhere, if we will let Him take us there. It is a journey; a race not a sprint. It takes time and it’s a Holy dance that sometimes involves taking one step forward and two steps backwards, but it is always pressing forward and upward to the higher calling in Christ (Philippians 3:14). I am pressing on somewhere between humility and audacious. I have a song to sing and it is all about Jesus. What about you?
