The Seedbed Daily Text, September 15, 2022

First, there is no shame in the Father’s House. If you are in Christ, you area Child of God, you are in the Father’s House, and you can park your sin and shame at the door (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjVi0CDicEQ). The Scriptures are clear that when we are in Christ and abide in Him there is no more condemnation and there is no more shame (Romans 8:1, Romans 10:11, 1 John 2:28). In my view, shame is a human response to being out of alignment with God. It is why we construct an image/masks/veils to hide our misalignment.

Secondly, I wholeheartedly believe that, “The work of transformation is not our work but the work of the Holy Spirit.” However, I can’t bring myself to believe that all we have to do is behold Christ. Beholding is vitally important and I don’t subscribe to the behavior management approach to transformation, but as I have said many times before, transformation, sanctification, the deeper journey is a matter of both being and doing. The personal practice of the spiritual disciplines are the means of Grace that the Holy Spirit uses to transform us (https://seedbed.com/how-john-wesleys-means-of-grace-should-impact-our-christian-witness/). They are means to an end not an end in and of themselves.

Finally, I love JD, but I believe our legacy does matter. I am not trying to “manage my image beyond my life.” My identity is secure in Christ. I don’t need a mask. I am just trying to live my life in such a way that it brings glory to Christ for the sake of others. I am planning to run across the finish line and if I can’t, I know He will carry me. At my funeral, I want it to be said that I was faithful and that I loved God and others.
