Description

A Note from the Workshop Leader, J.D. Walt:

Journaling, for me (and for the longest time), was like fasting. I wanted to do it. I knew I should be doing it. And I started doing it many times—but it always ended in failure.

In recent years, I have learned a new way of journaling that has made all the difference. I call it “Word and Spirit Journaling.” The most surprising insight I believe the Lord revealed to me was this—my journal was not about me. I was not the subject of my journal. The Word of God and the Spirit of God became the subject of my journal.

When the center of gravity shifted from my experience to God’s Revelation, everything else changed.

In this workshop I will share what I have learned and pass on practical helps that I think will inspire, encourage, and help you. We will navigate the shift from “My Experience + My Reflection,” to “Word Revelation + Spirit Response.”

We will talk about the practices of Rumination and “Rememberizing,” along with new practices like Revelation-Mining, Re-Scribing, Word-Scaping, and how to develop helpful rhythms of review.

I will share practical examples from my own journal and we will have a good time together. I am looking forward to it!
