About the Book
The Beatitudes are among the most familiar words Jesus ever spoke—and perhaps the most misunderstood. Christians often turn to these blessings for comfort, encouragement, and instruction, but what if Jesus intended them as something even more profound?
What if the Beatitudes are his self-portrait?
Matt Friedeman invites readers to discover how the blessings together reflect Christ’s humility, mercy, purity, courage, and unwavering devotion to the Father. Drawing from a lifetime of study, pastoral ministry, and discipleship, Friedeman explores these timeless teachings with biblical depth, practical wisdom, and fresh insight. Along the way, readers will discover why the Beatitudes have inspired Christians throughout the centuries as the pathway to holiness, human flourishing, and faithful witness in a world that prizes entirely different values.
If you long to know Jesus more deeply, grow in Christlikeness, and live the abundant life he promises, The Self-Portrait of Jesus offers a compelling invitation to behold the Savior and, by his grace, become more like him.
