About the Book
Christians believe that death is not the end. We confess the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. We speak of heaven and hell, eternal life and judgment. And yet, for something so central to the Christian hope, many of us have a surprisingly hazy picture of what Scripture actually teaches about the life to come.
What happens when we die? What will happen to our bodies? Will heaven be boring? What does the Bible mean when it says Jesus descended to the dead? Will our pets be there? And what difference should any of this make for the way we live right now?
In this accessible exploration of the afterlife, seminary president and professor Andy Miller III brings biblical exegesis, historic Christian theology, and vivid illustrations together to offer a tangible vision of what Christians have believed and what Scripture promises about eternity. Along the way, Miller shows why the Christian hope is inseparable from the call to holiness: as we prepare for heaven, God is at work getting heaven into us.
